"The Moon"

By Robert Louis Stevenson

The moon has a face like the clock in the hall;

She shines on thieves on the garden wall,

On streets and fields and harbour quays,

And birdies asleep in the forks of the trees.

The squalling cat and the squeaking mouse,

The howling dog by the door of the house,

The bat that lies in bed at noon,

All love to be out by the light of the moon.

But all of the things that belong to the day

Cuddle to sleep to be out of her way;

And flowers and children close their eyes

Till up in the morning the sun shall arise."The Crescent Moon"

By Amy Lowell

Slipping softly through the sky

Little horned, happy moon,

Can you hear me up so high?

Will you come down soon?

On my nursery window-sill

Will you stay your steady flight?

And then float away with me

Through the summer night?

Brushing over tops of trees,

Playing hide and seek with stars,

Peeping up through shiny clouds

At Jupiter or Mars.

I shall fill my lap with roses

Gathered in the milky way,

All to carry home to mother.

Oh! what will she say!

Little rocking, sailing moon,

Do you hear me shout—Ahoy!

Just a little nearer, moon,

To please a little boy.

Answer 1

Answer:

moon 'by Robert Louis Stevenson: The poet is paying tribute to the moon who is constant and is witnessing the father and the child roaming around a cove. They admire the presence of the moon and feel the moonlit night and are welcomed by the mother when they come back from their journey.

In the poem 'Moon', Kathleen Jamie explores themes of abandonment, loneliness and disconnection. She does this by utilizing a clearly dysfunctional relationship between a mother and child. The child replaces the either mentally or physically absent mother with the presence of the moon.

three stanzas Each of the three stanzas is comprised of four lines. The first and third line of each stanza is in iambic octameter, and the second and fourth line of each stanza is in iambic hexameter. This meter, though alternating, is still rhythmic and create a melodious lull.

Theme is the central message or perception that the writer wants to convey to the readers. A theme often teaches a moral lesson to the reader. It is a universal idea that can be applied to anyone. However, text can have multiple themes as well

The moon can therefore represent pagan, natural, elemental forces which lie outside of the strictures and traditions of organised religion. And, of course, the moon has often been viewed as a symbol of wild, uncontrollable forces: men turning into werewolves on a full moon, for instance.

i In the beginning of the third stanza the poet says that the moon is shining in the open sky in the fresh night. However at the end of the stanza she describes the moon as broken into many pieces such as a shattered mirror. This change is caused by the trees that have made their way from her home to outside.

Solution. (i) In the beginning of the third stanza, the poet says that the whole moon is shining in the open sky in the fresh night. However, at the end of the stanza, she describes the moon as broken into many pieces such as a shattered mirror.

Main idea is what the poem is mostly about. It's not a summary because it doesn't contain many specific details. The main idea is the idea that all those little details go to support. To find the main idea, rev up your RPMs.

The poet now compares the moon to a crown on the head of the oak tree. Was this answer helpful?

The Moon (1885)

Explanation: The shape of the moon according to the poem is round like a clock.

Answer 2

Both poems explain that the moon shines bright enough to guide people. They both say that the moon is high up on the sky. The Moon is describing what the moon shines on but The Crescent Moon is about a boy who is talking to the moon and asking it to join him. Both poems tones are kind and gentle. You could say that their tone is silky. The Moon is talking about the moons brightness while The Crescent Moon is talking about the bonds that we have connected with the world around us.

This isn't that great, I know but I hope it helps!!!!!!

Could the straggling thoughts of individuals be collected, they would frequently form materials for wise and able men to improve into useful matter.

If there is any real reason to be afraid of independence, it is that there is no clear plan in place and men cannot see a way out. If people's scattered ideas could be gathered, they would regularly come together to form materials that smart and capable folks might develop into useful information.

As punishment for the help Daedalus gave queen pasiphae and Ariadne daughter of Minos
In defense of King Minos, when his wife was cursed by the gods to be madly in love with a bull, he was betrayed that Daedalus would help her be with the animal. He did this by creating a mechanical cow she used to breed with the bull and create the Minotaur. Daedalus had not only helped Minos’ wife mate with a bull, but also helped caused the creation of the Minotaur. This is why Daedalus was imprisoned and him and Icarus decided to escape with wings made of wax, wood, and feathers.

To defend Athena, during a contest Arachne had made the goddess look foolish with her expertise in the art of weaving. Feeling foolish, she had turned Arachne into a spider that would weave for all eternity. However, Arachne had it coming with her arrogant attitude and constant mocking of the gods.

To defend Hera, Echo had offended the queen of the gods by keeping her in a conversation which prevented her from seeing about one of her husband’s affairs. This obviously angered the goddess and she cursed echo to repeat what has been said to her. Narcissus(literally where narcissist came from) however is the reason for her to fade into only a voice. This makes jonas realize how his friends will never be able to understand and experience high emotional things since those types of things are being kept from them. Then theres the part where the giver shows jonas a memory about christmas and jonas realizes love. The But returning home, Jonas asks his parents if they love him. They are confused by the question and offer alternative ways of phrasing the query. They finally give an answer, but they have no concept of love like Jonas has, so he lies and says he is satisfied with their answer. Read the following short story excerpt, then answer the question that follows. When we rescued Tex, we thought he would be the perfect family dog. And he was … half of the time, anyway. His Jekyll and Hyde personality made our lives completely unpredictable. One second he was sweet as can be, and the next he was zooming around the house causing chaos. This paragraph alludes to the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Based on this literary allusion, which choice best describes Tex's personality?
Tex changes from good to evil unexpectedly.
Tex constantly begs the family for more food.
Tex sleeps all day and stays awake all night.
Tex tries to run away whenever he gets the chance.

Answers

Answer:

Tex changes from good to evil unexpectedly.

I believe the answer is A, Tex changes from good to evil unexpectedly.

Explanation: If you look at the text, it shows Tex to be quite unpredictable. He can be the perfect family dog (being the good side of him) however he can also cause lots of chaos (the evil side of him). Unexpectedly and unpredictable are synonyms and those are both words used in the answer/text. I think A would be your best option.

The essay:
George Eliot has said, “Animals are such agreeable friends—they ask no questions; they pass no criticisms.” The pets that are now humankind’s companions today were once wild animals. They now benefit humans in many ways. Because animals were domesticated many centuries ago, humans then began to have them as companions and kept them as pets; this led to a reduction of loneliness and health issues.
Early humans domesticated certain animals many centuries ago. National Geographic notes, “Because most major acts of domestication began before recorded history, we don’t know much about the exact process behind the generations-long journey from wild animal to domesticated pet or livestock. What is clear is that the ancestors of domesticated animals must have already exhibited traits that made them somehow useful to humans—traits that may have ranged from tasty meat to warm coats to a natural affinity for people.” Animals showed a natural affinity for people many years before being domesticated. The National Academy of Sciences has researched that, “Domestication of today's barnyard animals proceeded as a result of pressure by these early hunter-gatherers as they intuitively sought to stabilize their food resources (17, 24, 25). Among the successful domesticates, most were behaviorally preadapted to domestication. Behavioral characteristics considered favorable and unfavorable are presented in Table 2. Barnyard animals descend from herd-living herbivores whose ancestors followed a dominant individual through a territory shared with other herds.” Based off behavior, “hunter-gatherers” selected barnyard animals to stabilize their food resources. Humans began to domesticate animals because of things like a shortage of food, a need for help, and such.
As a result, more and more domesticated animals became pets over the years. Certain domesticated animals were seen as tame, or capable of being tamed. We now have various types of pets today, because of domestication many centuries back. “More than half of the global population is estimated to have a pet at home”, Health for Animals has analyzed. It is very common to have pets these days. Further on, John Leonard, a writer for “Greece Is”, claims, “Within the home and garden, the range of animals kept as pets was almost boundless, including dogs, ducks, geese, caged birds, rabbits, hares, tortoises, goats, quail, and mice.” There was, and still is, a wide range of animals kept as pets. Many different animals were domesticated, and are now pets.
The benefits of having pets range from a reduction of loneliness and health issues to increased happiness and better social skills. “The unconditional love of a pet can do more than keep you company. Pets may also decrease stress, improve heart health, and even help children with their emotional and social skills.” News in Health states. There are many benefits of having pets, many pertaining to health. News in Health has also found that “Animals can serve as a source of comfort and support. Therapy dogs are especially good at this. They’re sometimes brought into hospitals or nursing homes to help reduce patients’ stress and anxiety.” [Animals, especially dogs, are in tune to human emotions and are good support. The benefits of having pets are vast, and increase more, and more, over the years.

The Conclusion(This is what needs the clincher):
In brief, health issues, loneliness, and many other problems humans faced many centuries ago, and still face now, have been reduced thanks to domesticated animals. Animals were found to be extremely helpful to humans, and are now kept as pets.

Answer:

Even though we know animals were originally domesticated centuries ago for purposes such as food and protection; as both us and our pets grew it became evident that keeping domestic animals as pets offers many benefits ranging from company to assistance and even better our general health.

Which line best supports the writer’s opinion that Kamen has done things that have never been done before?

This quote is from the inventor of a three-phase motor, Nikola Tesla.
Dean started tinkering with sound and light boxes in his bedroom, “which caused lights to go off and on, and deafening sound to come from his radio,” said his mother.
It fits the description in every respect of Dean Kamen, the owner of more than one hundred patents.

C.It fits the description in every respect of Dean Kamen, the owner of more than one hundred patents.

What line best supports the writer's opinion?

The line that best supports the writer's opinion that Kamen has done something that has never been done before is the third option. This option shows that Dean Kamen owned more than a hundred patents. This was something that was quite unique and rare. Probably no one had ever done such a thing as Kamen had.

The line that we are to look out for will be the one that points to the exceptional strength of Kamen that must have separated him from others. The ability to own just one patent is unique not to talk of owning more than a hundred patents. This achievement of Kamen is something that has not been done before. So, option C is right.
