Great Britain's doctrine was "once a subject always a subject." On the other hand, the United States maintained that any foreigner, after five years' residence within her territory, and after having complied with certain forms, became one of her citizens as completely as if he was native born. Great Britain contended that her war ships possessed the right of searching all neutral vessels for the property and persons of her enemies.
Choose the correct paraphrase of the excerpt.
The British believed they had the right to stop and search any ship they wanted to look for enemies.

The longer portions of text in this part of the story only contain background information and do not contribute to the tension or suspense in the story.
B.
The incomplete statements in paragraphs 3, 5, and 6 are meant to slow the reader down and ease the tension from one event to the next.
C.

The author keeps a mental catalog of things he "never shall forget". In an essay of at least 300 words, explore why Wiesel maintains these painful memories. Do you agree that he should keep them intact? What would be his loose by forgetting them? Give example from text. THE BOOK IS “NIGHT” BY ELIE WIESEL
Answer: I’ll explain in the explanation.
Explanation:
The author of Night, Elie Wiesel, keeps a mental catalog of his memories for a multitude of reasons. For starters, he doesn’t have much of a choice. The memories haunt him, for they are both tragic and horrific. Yet, he still tries not to block them out with the intent of remembering the indifference he faced. He wants the world to take this awful part of history and learn from it. Learn to not be indifferent. Learn to not treat others in such a way. Also, these moments marked a change in himself, a change in his beliefs, a change in his identity. Changes of which it does no good to forget.
I, personally, agree that he should keep these memories intact, despite how horrible the visuals must be. Although it may hurt to remember the past, it does no good to forget it. Therefore, I think it’s important he remembers them, as he can try to initiate change by describing such events to the general public.
By forgetting them, he would lose what he learned, what he felt, and the faces of those who died. All of these things are crucial to remember. (I would add more to this but im not sure what to say rn)

Brave New World
Fanny and Lenina appear to believe that promiscuity is a kind of social duty of which they
sometimes tire. They are conditioned not to have strong feelings about anyone. Mustapha Mond
explains that love is like water under pressure in a pipe. If the pipe is pierced once, a strong jet is
the result, but if it is pierced many times, each jet is just a small leak. Mond argues that strong
feelings lead to instability:
"No wonder these poor pre-moderns were mad and wicked and miserable. Their world
didn’t allow them to take things easily, didn’t allow them to be sane, virtuous, happy.
What with mothers and lovers, what with the prohibitions they were not conditioned to
obey, what with the temptations and the lonely remorses, what with all the diseases and
the endless isolating pain, what with the uncertainties and the poverty—they were forced
to feel strongly. And feeling strongly (and strongly, what was more, in solitude, in
hopelessly individual isolation), how could they be stable? (41)
Are we the “pre-moderns” to which Mond refers? Is he right that we are emotionally unstable? Is
his description of our situation accurate? Do love, marriage, and strong attachments create the
problems in our society? Is the avoidance of love, marriage, and strong attachments to children
and other individuals a good solution to the problems of our society?
We are the pre-moderns, in my opinion, that he is alluding to. People can occasionally develop emotional instability.
We are regarded as pre-moderns as we still give birth to children via birthmothers rather than cloning. We have not yet been subsumed by the idea of the assembly line society. There is just sex in the present day; there is no such thing as love. People rely on drugs and partying to survive.
The thesis of Huxley is obvious. In this contemporary culture, people are content since they are kept in the dark. They are under the influence of drugs, so they may find pleasure wherever. It's all about having control. The caste structure keeps people in line, while the abundance of recreational opportunities keeps them content and unintelligent. They never challenge the status quo. Their civilization has been purified of any unpleasantness. These "modern" individuals truly view our way of life, which emphasizes love and mothers caring for their children, as heresy.
People with high attachment anxiety have a great need for approval, a strong want to be physically and emotionally close to others (particularly romantic partners), and difficulty controlling their pain and emotions in relationships. Attachment anxiety varies from moderate to severe. They receive care from a caregiver who is inconsistent or untrustworthy. The child's primary caregivers are insensitive, many, or change often. The youngster is neglected. They go through trauma.
In various partnerships, people frequently have distinct attachment types. The kids are better equipped to steer clear of love problems in their own lifetimes. The issues in our society cannot be resolved in this way.
