"Many good thanks to those who have arrived! I assume you are certainly enjoying the party, so I will be sure to not disturb you as you waltz. Good day to all!" The queen's voice called down towards all her attendants. Around us all the higher ups danced and talked, giggling in that high pitched voice of theirs, however I sat alone.

"Mayhap you need a partner to dance with?" spoke a boy wearing the finest of silks, approaching me from over yonder, surprising me who sat down on the outskirts of the ballroom.

"Pray pardon, I do not know who you are."

"I trow you have no one to dance with, so I assume I would suffice," he said, sounding rather taken aback.

"I apologize, I have to go to the privy-"

"That is unimportant. Take my hand and waltz with me, for I am the prince."

"Very well," I said, smiling, "My thanks for offering."

a heroic story using the words Restate, convey, Refute, Consistent, Connotation, Denotation, Concept, Dispute, Hypothetical, Evoke

Answers

Answer:

Hypothetically, the job of a firefighter might seem fun. However, upon closer look, you might see that the role of a firefighter requires hard work and determination. I stared at the windowsill as the stench of smoke made my nose wrinkle and the consistent screaming made my ears ring. I couldn't convey the amount of panic I felt at that moment, staring at the child in the window of the apartment. Connotationally, the job of the firefighter felt joyous, always being the center of attention. However, after being restated as a denotation, you realize it is much more than being the center of attention. After a dispute between a couple, the husband had set the entire apartment on fire. The look in the child's eyes evoked something within me, and I rushed to grab the ladder on my firetruck. I swung it towards the windowsill. The child was obviously scared by me climbing the ladder, and refuted by shaking his head. I stuck to my original concept and grabbed the kid, and though he squirmed, I managed to bring him back down to safety.

Voluntourism: An Opportunity Too Good to be True

A Speech to the Student Body of Evergreen High

[1] Picture this: It's Spring Break, and you fly off to some country where there's lush rainforests and beautiful, blue coastlines to explore. There's also people in need, so you decide to blend your vacation with volunteering. Volunteering as a tourist, or voluntourism, seems like a great way to explore new regions and help people at the same time. However, this "volunteer plus travel" experience can actually harm local communities. While many teens might view traveling and volunteering abroad as a worthwhile adventure, there are more genuine and effective ways to make a difference.

[2] Most would agree that volunteering in general is a worthy use of time. However, what if you found out the children you are "helping" are actually being kept in poor conditions so voluntourists will spend money to come to the local area? Dale Rolfe, a supporter of ethical voluntourism, explains the shocking reality that "Animal sanctuaries and orphanages are often manufactured for the voluntourist…encouraging a cycle of exploiting the very animals and children the volunteers are trying to help."

[3] Proponents of the "volunteer plus travel" experience also argue that traveling to new places builds character and is a valuable way to learn about different cultures. With voluntourism, however, participants often pursue experiences that are all about them. For example, they sign up to build a school for a gold star on their resume, but they have no real building skills and take jobs away from local construction workers (Schulten). Or, they arrive to teach English but instead take selfies with the locals. One world traveler and ethical voluntourist believes voluntourism "can perpetuate small minded views of the world by taking insulated, fake, and structured experiences and selling them as unabridged and eye opening" (Carlos). The voluntour experience is a mirage. The voluntourist's eyes are not opened to real life at the destination, and lasting change is not achieved.

[4] If you want a genuine experience where you can see a lasting impact, there are better options than voluntourism. You can volunteer in your local community. Give an hour every week to your town's animal rescue. Serve monthly dinners to the homeless. Be a reliable, positive influence on a child who needs a mentor. Studies show that volunteering and forming lasting relationships with those you help has a positive impact on your physical and emotional health. In fact, blood pressure is reduced, memory is improved, and rates of depression are reduced (Michaels).

[5] There is another reason to look into alternatives to voluntourism. Did you know the average "voluntour" travel package costs $3,400 (Rolfe)? Could that travel money be better spent? If the world's citizens are your passion, it could go to an international organization. If you care about education, your funds can be used to buy books for students in faraway lands. If you want villagers to have clean water, contribute funds to local efforts to dig wells. If you want to experience a different culture, travel to the country as a guest, and learn from the locals how you can best help them after you've returned home. But do not voluntour.

[6] In reality, there are better ways to make a difference. Voluntourism might appear to be an adventure that blends travel and helping others, but it does little except provide a costly, superficial experience that might actually do more harm than good. So, volunteer where you are most needed...at home, where you can stay to see the job through and form genuine, lasting relationships. Choose a beautiful coastline closer to home and send the travel money you saved to an international organization that will put it to good use. Whatever you do, don't turn someone else's hardship into your vacation.

What is the speaker's claim in this argument?

The financial cost associated with voluntour opportunities is exceptionally high.

There are better ways to make a difference than mixing tourism with volunteering.

Volunteering locally has more health benefits than voluntouring internationally.

Voluntourism is a great way to help people and communities as well as travel the world.

Digital media are spaces in which communication and information exchange is generated between users and producers of digital content, whether they are companies, bloggers or news sites.

Explanation:

Here are 5 sentences to raise the awareness of people who are using digital media.

Acquiring information from digital media can be useful and easy to access, but you have to be very careful with the sources, since many times they can be unreliable. The scope of the news used in digital media is massive, therefore you have to be careful with what you write since it can reach anyone anywhere in the world. If the internet fails, the connection with the cameras, or there is some technical aspect that makes it difficult to broadcast it will be something difficult to solve at that time until it is technically resolved. The cost of launching a communication medium is not small, especially when it comes to licenses, equipment and personnel to create a communication medium.People are dependent on technological devices such as mobile phones, which is one of the most used devices to keep up to date with everything that happens in the world, and therefore is generating dependency problems.

what happens to people who place too much importance on status

Answers

Answer:

This question requires a personal answer. I will give you one as an example.

Explanation:

One of the most repeated expressions by everyone is: we do not care what others say about us. That the important thing is to be yourself regardless of the opinions of others. Which is an example of a lack of personality to change due to peer pressure. If they tell you to jump out the window, do you jump?

However, perhaps we are so strict repeating this series of ideas because, deep down, nobody is like that, not even us. What's more, living refractory to the opinions of others is not a sign of personality, but rather a poor functioning of the healthy brain.

All, except pathological cases have evolved to thrive in social groups. Loneliness and individuality are synonymous with death in the evolutionary context. Thus, the brain has been wired to be extremely permeable to the social breeze, turning one way or another depending on how it blows, which weather vane.

It sounds a bit contradictory, but it makes sense: people need to belong to groups, but these groups must be beneficial to us. Given that there are different groups in the world, we will choose the one we consider the best (or the one that accepts us more easily), and we will disdain the rest, considering them inferior, strange, counterproductive or any other epithet associated with rejection.

Most people say out loud that they do not care what they think of them, paradoxically so that others think precisely that and nothing else.

After much thought and consideration, Chloe has decided to live with her grandmother this summer in order to be closer to a dance school that she wants to attend. What is this an example of? A) a solution B) a problem C) advise D) challenge

Answers

Answer:

A) a solution

Explanation:

The problem-solving process can be defined as the systematic approach used to identify and determine the solution to a particular problem.

The steps involved in the problem-solving process are;

1. Identify and define the problem: this is the first step to be taken in solving a problem. This is to ensure that, the focus is on the main issue or situation and all efforts is channeled in the right direction rather than the symptoms.

2. Gathering of information: this helps to consider the options available in solving a problem effectively.

3. Consider your options: this helps to compare the available and viable solutions to the problem.

4. Weigh disadvantages and evaluate a solution: you weigh the disadvantages of each solution, before choosing the one with the least disadvantages.

In this scenario, after much thought and consideration, Chloe has decided to live with her grandmother this summer in order to be closer to a dance school that she wants to attend. Hence, this is an example of a solution.

A solution can be defined as an act of completely solving a challenge, issue or problem. Since Chloe would be living with her grandmother who stays close to the dance school this summer, she would be able to attend the dance school and as such proffered a solution to her problem.

The workforce has changed to become both safer, more effective, and moreequal opportunities. In the past, your job options often only consisted of farming or some other manual labor which done by men. SOme people would die in coal mines, get picked up by plagues, or have their fingers sawed off by blades. With new saftey regulations, people can get more work done, with less hazards. The new workforces has also become more effective due to more jobs being offered and more people being offered those jobs. A while back, women couldn't really work and colored people would get paid much less for even less job oportunities. They would struggle against oppresion and often wouldn't be offered a job just of their color. However, the new work force faces some challanges as well. There are still many hazards, both to working and what your working for. Fuel industries are causing climate change, and many jobs are still fairly hazardous to work in. Women and men being allowed to work put stress on some families, and still women are sometimes less likley o get hiered than men. The families that went through the changes in the workforce probably experinced slight stress with equality but as our society moves into further equality, we can move past any opression in the workforce. In conclusion, while the workforce may still have some work to do, the changes it's gone through have been mostly for the best.
