How do you think Montresor feels after sealing up
the wall? Using three or more vocabulary words,
write a paragraph describing his feelings. You might
begin as shown below.

EXAMPLE SENTENCE:

Montresor felt strange as he closed the final
aperture.

Answers

Answer 1

The shame is too great for Montresor to be able to suppress what he has done. Because his motivation for the murder was insufficient to convince him that it was justifiable.

How does Montresor feel about revenge?

When justice's seeker is overpowered by vengeance, a wrong is not righted, as Montresor declares in the first line of the novel, "I must not only punish, but punish with impunity." It is equally unrepaired when the avenger fails to identify himself as such to the perpetrator.

The narrator, Montresor, is angry with Fortunato because he feels humiliated and hurt by him. He continues to live with the guilt of a crime that occurred more than 50 years ago.

Thus, The shame is too great for Montresor to be able to suppress.

In 3–5 complete sentences, thoroughly explain what effect the order of ideas in paragraphs 9 and 10 have on the meaning of the text. Why does Dr. King make his points in this order? What is the effect? Provide at least two specific examples from the text to support your answer.

Answers

Answer:

Dr. King makes his points in this particular order for many reasons. A reason is that it emphasizes what he is trying to say. For example when he says _______ and __________, if this was not in this particular order, his impact would not have been as effective.

(I used blanks because you did not provide the text)

Answer:

The reason that Dr. King makes his points in order is because he starts by presenting the background of the church and his personal story with it. He then uses rhetorical question to arouse the reader's attention and as a transition to the next paragraph, which is about how the church has become weaker and more corrupt, unlike back when it was "very powerful". The first paragraph directly addresses the Church. It points out the irony of the beautiful churches who were supposed to fight for justice but who were silent about racial inequality. The second reminds the clergymen that the Church can be a powerful force in the community if they stop being silent about racial inequalities.

Hattie stepped off the screeching subway train and lugged her possessions onto the escalator. When she finally emerged from underground, she got to the sidewalk and looked at the landscape. She was used to flatness and green; the farm that they’d just sold had cattle grazing as far as the eye could see. There was nothing green in sight here as cement behemoths sprung out of the ground taller than the stalks of corn back in Iowa. People zipped in front of her with briefcases tucked to their sides as high heels clacked on the pavement. It was all so overwhelming, so loud, and Hattie put her hands over her ears to shut out the sounds of the taxi horns and the thousand different conversations. Her little sister Evelyn didn’t; she was trying to take it all in.

Her mother pulled out a map from her purse and held it in shaky hands. “According to this, our new home should be right here.”

Hattie traced her mother’s index finger to a building that was so high that she had to crane her neck to see the top.

“This?” Evelyn gasped.

Her father, the man who was never at a loss for words, didn’t say anything. He adjusted the weight of the three bags that contained most of the possessions they’d been able to bring on the three-hour plane journey that had uprooted them from their old lives and deposited them in New York City.

Her father struggled to open the heavy front door, and when they were inside, the smell of hundreds of different meals clashed in her nose: spaghetti, fried chicken, fish, and curry. They stood in front of a bank of elevators as Evelyn pushed the button for the seventeenth floor. When they entered what would be their new home, Hattie spun around in tiny circles as her father gave them the “grand” tour.

“Here is where you and Evelyn will sleep,” he announced. He pointed to a room that was half the size of the Iowa bedroom that was hers alone, the same Iowa bedroom where she’d had all her sleepovers and whose walls still showcased the crayon scribbles from when she was a toddler. She’d tried to scrub them clean, but they were more stubborn than she was, so they would be there for the new family that would be moving in soon.

Evelyn tried to sound excited. “We get to share a room!”

Hattie was grateful for her younger sister, for the way that she could always look at the bright side of things. Hattie couldn’t say anything in response—she’d been speechless for most of the trip. Instead, she followed her father down the hallway that was narrow enough for one person to fit through, maybe two if they squeezed shoulder to shoulder.

“And here is where your mom and I will be.” She could hear the forced excitement in her father’s voice for a move that he didn’t want to make either. But they’d had to sell the farm, and when this opportunity presented itself, there had really been no choice.

The tour was over as soon as it started—tiny kitchen, one bathroom, boxy living room. The four of them would be sharing an apartment that was smaller than the drafty old kitchen in the farmhouse.

Without a word, they grabbed boxes and started about the business of unpacking in rooms that were inches away from one another rather than feet. Hattie walked over to a dirty square window in her new shared bedroom. She wiped it clean, hoping to see something that would remind her of Iowa, but the window only looked out onto more concrete and glass. A wave of sadness washed over her—the first crack in the numbness that she’d been feeling for the past month since she found out about the move. She turned her back and lowered her head so Evelyn wouldn’t see her, but then the sobs came, each louder than the previous one.

There was a hand on her shoulder. She wanted to put the smile back on because she knew it would be better for Evelyn and everyone else that way, but she couldn’t summon it now. She turned around and saw her blurry sister through tear-filled eyes. In front of her face, Evelyn was holding a folded-up picture of the whole family in front of the farmhouse.

“I miss it too,” Evelyn began, “but we don’t have to forget it.”

Together, they taped the picture to the corner of the bedroom window so they could see it whenever they wanted. Hattie pulled Evelyn close, knowing that a place would never be as important as the people in it.

Answers

After reading the passage, we can see how Hattie and Evelyn feel about their family moving to New York, so we can answer the questions as follows.

Part A

Hattie appreciates that Evelyn is able to feel positive about the move. (option B).

Part B:

"Hattie was grateful for her younger sister, for the way that she could always look at the bright side of things." (option C)"Hattie pulled Evelyn close, knowing that a place would never be as important as the people in it."

Hattie and Evelyn's reaction

In the passage provided, we see a family consisting of the parents and two sisters move to New York after selling their farm back in Iowa. The older sister, Hattie, is trying to stay strong, but the truth is that she feels deeply sad about this move. Their house was bigger in Iowa, and she loved the life they had there.

Evelyn is Hattie's little sister, and she has a more positive attitude. She is probably sad as well, but she makes a point of finding the silver lining in the whole situation. For example, she acts if the sisters sharing a bedroom was a good thing.

Her attitude is actually appreciated by Hattie. The two seem to be very close, and Evelyn's perspective seems to help Hattie cope with the many changes they are going through.

Thus, it is our conclusion that the answers above concerning Hattie and Evelyn are correct.

The speaker is still analyzing his decision. He chose the path of non-conformity. he is a non-conformist. he traveled alone. The path he took had few distractions. Of course, the speaker should be happy with the path he has taken, but he is still contemplating the paths he has not taken. The speaker wonders what other paths might have held for him. In fact, the narrator declares that he will tell this story "for years" with a sigh. There seems to be some sadness on the part of the speaker about having to choose between two roads:

"Two roads diverged in the yellow forest

I'm sorry, I couldn't travel to both

And I couldn't be a traveler." For a long time, I stood

And looked down on one as far as I could

It writhed in the undergrowth. where;'

The speaker regrets not being able to travel both ways. He returns and chooses the other way. Truly life is a choice and that's what Street stands for - a choice.

Finally, the speaker realizes that he has taken a lesser-known path and that it has changed his life. Unfortunately, he sighs:

"Let's say this with a sigh. There was a difference."

What is the Allure of fear?

Fear, we all have heard the word, but what exactly causes us to enjoy such a thing? One of the most enticing things about being afraid is the adrenaline rush you feel, the high you get from something so horrifying.”An adrenaline rush begins in the brain. When you perceive a dangerous or stressful situation, that information is sent to a part of the brain called the amygdala. This area of the brain plays a role in emotional processing.” (Healthline,1). Of course, most of these feelings only come from knowing you are in a safe environment while still having that scary creature or spooky experience. Something such as haunted houses or a scary movie can bring that feeling to some individuals.

Another factor of fear is the feeling of closeness it can bring to people, such as romantic interests, family, or friends. Being scared in a fun way versus being actually afraid are two very different things. While being afraid in a fun way can be a good bonding experience. A life or death situation may not be the best way to connect with someone. “If we're in real danger, we're focused on survival, not fun. But if we trigger the high arousal response in a safe space (watching a movie, going on a rollercoaster, etc.), your body is safe to enter the euphoric state of being scared while simultaneously having fun. 3. It's Normal To Enjoy Some Fear Responses And Not Others.” (Bustle, Marissa Higgins,1).

Scary experiences in a safe environment can also show courage and make someone feel proud of getting through said experience. Someone showing strength and bravery in a scary situation can also be a way of them showing off to the other people around them. For example, someone is scared to go into a haunted house. The person goes in anyways and feels gratification for being able to conquer their fear. “Some people enjoy "pushing the envelope," seeking thrills, and seeing how much fear can be tolerated. If they are able to endure the barrage of anxiety, suspense, and fear, a great sense of self-satisfaction is often experienced. I’ll never forget being scared out of my mind watching The Shining when I was 12 years old, but also being quite proud of myself for making it through the entirety of the film without turning my head away!” (Psychology Today, 1).

Things that violate the laws of nature are often terrifying, which is why people created heinous monsters, zombies, werewolves, and ghosts. Almost all people are afraid of things they do not understand, which is why having these sorts of creatures may scare some. They can also be enjoyable, and a source of art, considering most know that they are just fairytales. Some people may also be scared of the monsters even though they know they are not actually real. Just the idea or the look of the creature in question can scare an individual. “While the softer monsters may delight us, the scarier monsters are the ones we should pay more attention to. They are the embodiments of our fears, concerns, and anxieties, urgent messengers from the depths of the mind. In fact, Sigmund Freud argued that the monsters in our dreams are created by our unconscious mind and reflect our current worries and fears—even those we fail to consciously acknowledge.”(Psychology Today, 1).

The allure of fear varies from person to person, some enjoy it because of the adrenaline. Some enjoy it for the bonding experience, while others enjoy it due to dopamine and satisfaction. Fear has always been a part of our species. It has been a part of our stories and our lives. Psychology today states “If people didn’t feel fear, they wouldn’t be able to protect themselves from legitimate threats. Fear is a vital response to physical and emotional danger that has been pivotal throughout human evolution, but especially in ancient times when men and women regularly faced life-or-death situations.Today, the stakes are lower, but while public speaking, elevators, and spiders don’t present the same type of immediately dire consequences that faced early man, some individuals still develop extreme fight-flight-or-freeze responses to specific objects or scenarios.” (Psychology Today, 1).

Your text is written in a very interesting and efficient way, but it would be better if you rewrote the introductory paragraph and the conclusion paragraph, in addition, it would be relevant if you put the authors' surnames in the textual citations.

Why could the introduction and conclusion be rewritten? To present smaller paragraphs. To make the text more objective.

In the introductory paragraph, you already show why fear is fascinating. It would be interesting if you put this information in the first paragraph of the body of the text. The introduction, in this case, should just show what fear is and how it can fascinate and terrify us.

The conclusion should highlight the most important points of the text, making a short summary of the most informative parts.

Finally, you present the text citations by displaying the name of the article or the name of the place where the article you used as a search source was found. You should prioritize using the article's author's surnames.
