The economic system which governed the colonisation of the Americas was mercantilism or merchant capitalism. To be effective, mercantilism had to operate in tandem with colonialism to ensure that the wealth of the subordinated country belonged to the dominant one. It was believed that if the mother country could control all goods in and out of the colony, ensuring that no other country could trade with it, then she would have total control of the wealth that derived from the settlement. Thus, all goods produced in the Spanish colonies had to be exported to Spain and settlers could only officially purchase goods from Spain. Bullion and agricultural products would profit Spanish citizens and expand her treasury as well as increase employment and industries such as shipbuilding.
Spain took several steps to effect her monopolisation of the Americas. In the first place, to solidify her ‘discovery’ and ensure that her claim was recognised, effectively monopolising the Americas in accordance with her mercantilist aspirations, Isabella and Ferdinand sought the ratification of Pope Alexander VI. The Pope divided the world outside of Europe in half. Lands to the west of the Azores belonged to Spain and those to the east belonged to Portugal. This was the Treaty of Tordesillas, ratified in 1494 wherein Portugal would receive Brazil and West Africa, while all 'discoveries' in the Americas belonged to Spain. Though Spain and Portugal, Roman Catholic countries, believed that the Pope’s authority would ensure that Christian Europe would recognise their American claims, the Reformation resulted in Protestant countries such as England and Holland to whom his endorsement of the Treaty of Tordesillas meant very little. In fact, they believed that the Pope should not be involved in secular affairs such as this. France was also interested in Spain's overseas colonies and ignored the Pope's endorsement.
Answer:
Despite her attempts, England, Holland and France managed to oppose Spain's monopoly in several ways; through exploration, piracy/privateering/buccaneering, smuggling (trading illegally with Spanish colonists) and settlement

penny and give it back to the owner.
Answer:
likely the last sentence. Some neighbor would bid a penny and give it back to the owner.
The farmers' tactics in fighting unfair foreclosure were a desperate fight against losing everything. They refused to buy from a neighbor in order to aid the suffering farmer.
The creditors would take anything they could to satisfy their debts, including the farmland, livestock, farm machinery, and even basic household goods. The farmers united together in penny auction sales, where a neighbor would bid a penny and return the item to the original owner.
The penny auction sales also had the benefit of driving down the costs of the items and protecting the farmer from further loss. The movement of the farmers to stand against the unfair foreclosures was essential in saving their land, livelihoods, and rights.

What are the Ninth and Tenth amendments referred to as? Which institution do these rights allow to create more
rights?
Answer:
Popular sovereignty
Explanation:
The ninth and tenth amendments basically say that any powers not listed as the federal governments is reserved for the states and people. So, when your question asks what institutions do these rights fall under, it would be the states and the people.
You also seemed a bit confused about the rights part, so let me make up a random example. Lets say that the constitution doesn't say that...the federal government can put limits on cheese. Because this power isn't listed as a federal, then the power to determine what cheese is legal goes to the states. Sorry if you like cheddar, I guess :( If you wanted a serious example though, the rights to drug regulation isn't exactly mentioned as a federal power, hence why florida has legal marijuana and other states dont!
Anyway, I hope this somewhat helped!
Why does the lawmaking process take so long?
Answer:
The responsibility of Congress is to pass legislation. The legislative process is typically delayed, as the Constitution's architects intended. A slow-moving legislature, the architects reasoned, would be less able to trespass on citizens' rights and liberties.

QUESTION: Using specific examples, write 3 paragraphs of describing similarities and differences between the Columbian exchange and the exchanges that had taken place along the Silk Road trade routes of Eurasia.
Answer:
German geographer and traveler Ferdinand von Richthofen first used the term “silk road” in 1877 C.E. to describe the well-traveled pathway of goods between Europe and East Asia. The term also serves as a metaphor for the exchange of goods and ideas between diverse cultures. Although the trade network is commonly referred to as the Silk Road ... The Columbian Exchange: goods introduced by Europe, produced in New World. As Europeans traversed the Atlantic, they brought with them plants, animals, and diseases that changed lives and landscapes on both sides of the ocean. These two-way exchanges between the Americas and Europe/Africa are known collectively as the Columbian Exchange.
