Gas rationing was implemented in order to preserve tyres as well as gasoline. Our supply of rubber was cut off when the Japanese took control of most of the Pacific. Rationing of gas would last until August 15, 1945.
Oil, butter, sugar, and canned milk were among the items that had to be rationed because they needed to be used for the war effort. Trade was hampered by war, which reduced the supply of several items.
