2. It may sound fantastical, but just outside of Santa Cruz, California, not far from the Pacific Ocean, is an area called the Mystery Spot. This mystifying place is nestled in a canyon on the side of a hill. The spot, which is no larger than 150 feet in diameter, seems to defy all natural laws.

The owners say that the mysterious properties of this location were first discovered in 1939, when the land was benign surveyed for purchase. Although he and his workers were confused, they blamed the variance on underground minerals or the possibility of barbed wire being buried nearby.
